22′ Ore Hopper

Ore is heavy! Due to ore’s unusually high density, the efficient transportation of raw iron ore requires specialized freight cars called ore hoppers, also known as “ore jennies.” They became a common sight on the rails after the discovery of iron ore veins in the Upper Midwest in the late 19th century, and can still be seen today hauling ore from Minnesota’s Iron Range to docks along the Great Lakes. This model’s smaller size makes it relatively easy and inexpensive to build dozens of these cars to create an entire unit train like what you’d see in the real world!

The instructions also include two different truck designs to suit any era, both of which use our bearing wheelsets for added performance and realism.

The included decal sheet is also enough to decal three cars.
