EMD SD70ACe 2025 Update

The SD70ACe was a six-axle AC traction locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive division between 2005 and 2015. Power was provided by a 16 cylinder 710G3C diesel engine, which could produce 4,300 horsepower.

Great care has been taken to capture road specific details like number board and headlight placement. This model also includes numerous design improvements over our original SD70ACe, including a fully remodeled nose and cab section, refined drivetrain, reinforced trucks, more accessible battery compartment, and countless stability improvements.

The locomotive is designed to be motorized with a Powered Up Hub and two Large motors. This requires a custom program via the Powered Up app or pybricks. We have also made provisions to run a single Large motor using the Crocodile locomotive control profile included with the Powered Up App by default. For more advanced users, the model has been engineered with space for the installation of a Blunami 4408 control board and 28mm speaker for onboard sound.

This model also requires a set of 8 flanged and 4 blind #6 (MS) wheels which must be purchased separately.
