ACF 50′ Exterior Post Boxcar

In the 1970’s, American railroads began to purchase large numbers of 50’ boxcars to replace their fleets of aging 40’ boxcars in what became known as the “boxcar boom.” The 50’ cars quickly became the standard size for boxcars and remained so to this day. Over 5,000 of these 50’ boxcars were built by American Car & Foundry between 1975 and 1980. Many of them are still in service today and often retain their original “heritage” railroad paint schemes.

The truck design on this model uses our bearing wheelsets for added performance and realism.
